Review of Singl-end Cafe and Bakehouse - Garnethill. Singl-end Cafe and Bakehouse - Garnethill. We have a number of table and chairs available on our outside deck. We handcraft everything in house and as such our products have an individual value, our focaccia is potato based as it is gluten free and as such has a thicker texture. Portion sizes are very generous. Maddie guided us through the buffet selections, taking all dietary requirements on board and giving us great options, including our special bake request. Food and ambience
Lots of variety on offer with coeliac, allergy free options available. The decor choices spread through to the toilets too. Definitely hit the spot and we will definitely be back! Having read the great reviews I thought I would try it out. It's a lovely and unique looking place with friendly staff but I was disappointed with some of the food.
Although the flavours of my rice salad and tomato salad were great, the tomato one had what seemed to be a chunk of bread in it which was so hard it was inedible. I did try but I could not get my teeth through it at all. The focaccia looked great but it had a very heavy dense rubber like texture which was nothing like bread at all and quite unpleasant.
I really liked the place but if a bake house can get bread so wrong, I am sorry to say I won't be giving it a second try. Hi Karen, I am very sorry to hear of your disappointment. We try very hard to please all of our customers and its important to us that everyone is more than satisfied with their experience.
We handcraft everything in house and as such our products have an individual value, our focaccia is potato based as it is gluten free and as such has a thicker texture. We offer other breads with a lighter and less dense texture which might have been to your preference. Apologies for your hard chunk of bread in your panzanella.
Bread is one of the main ingredients in panzanella and in this case that particular piece had not soaked up enough of the veg juices. We have also passed all food safety and hygiene inspections and have been given approval to showcase our food across the long table.
All our products are freshly made and due to the very busy nature of the cafe they are constantly restocked and refreshed throughout the day and our bakers are constantly doing quality checks. We are very sorry to hear your first experience wasn't what you anticipated, we'd love it if you'd try us again. Regards, Tamzin. Just popped in here for a soup to takeaway and picked up a cheese and spring onion scone to go with it,wow!
Soooo delicious, the soup was Tomato, kale and borlotti bean and it was divine. The scone was simply delicious too. Didn't even know this place existed until today, will definitely be back. Great little hiddem gem, such a cool atmosphere and decor too. We had a simple but so yummy lunch here. The service was friendly, the food was generous and tasty, and the price very reasonable.

Whether it's a soft and gooey chocolate brownie, a creamy Victoria sponge or a lemon tart with a zesty kick, I can't resist the lure of the cake trolley. I remember I used to genuinely think people had a separate stomach for dessert.
I still sort of do believe that, actually. If you followed along with my Veganuary posts , then you'll know that finding vegan-friendly sweet treats was what I struggled with most - which is why I couldn't have discovered Singl-end Cafe and Bakehouse and their mouth-watering - and vegan friendly!
Deceivingly sized from the street, I was surprised at how big and airy the space is once I walked through the door. With bare concrete floors, brick walls and exposed metal ceiling supports, Sing-end has a modern industrial feel - but the colourful pops of art and wallpaper, scattered postcards and squishy couches add a homely touch which stop the space from feeling cold.
We walked by the cake display on the way to our table at the back of the room and it took super-human willpower to not simply sit down, order an assortment of cakes and sod lunch. However, we're adults or, at least, we're in our mid-twenties and try to appear that way to the outside world , so we ordered savory dishes to enjoy before we could get to the really good stuff.
I ordered the spiced chickpea with roasted cauliflower sandwich which came served with spicy onions, while Sam opted for the vegan cooked breakfast. I've never had an open sandwich before but it didn't disappoint - loaded with a combination of soft and crunchy spiced vegetables, the flavours and textures worked wonderfully together to create a satisfying and healthy dish.
